Powder coating
Why choose powder coating – it’s easy, because the right colour solution will ensure your paintwork looks its best. the most aesthetically pleasing appearance!
Why choose powder coating?
The powder coated part is highly resistant to wear and tear regardless, what it will be used for. Powder paint is resistant to cracking, fading and scratches. This durability makes it suitable for well for details that are exposed to sunlight, chemistry and the different environmental factors. The choice of colours is huge and in addition different structures and effects.
Advantages of powder coating:
- durability - painted details retain their original appearance for a long time. They are resistant to damage during transport;
- unlimited colour choice - powder coatings are available in all colours, as well as different textures and gloss levels;
- environmentally friendly - as powder paints contain no solvents and have almost no colour loss, they are completely safe for the environment;
- Ease of use - Powder paints eliminate the time-consuming drying process, as the painted item is ready for use as soon as it cools;
- cost - comparing the cost of powder paints with that of conventional liquid paints shows that the cost per m2 is the same or even lower for powder paints.
How is powder coating done?
There are several aspects to consider and the right steps to follow to achieve a high quality and beautiful finish. Powder painting requires a solid knowledge, skills and equipment.
- First, pre-treat the surface: clean it of grease and dirt. It is necessary to sandblast rusted or previously painted parts to ensure a quality finish.
- All plastic and rubber parts are removed from the surface as the surface is heated in the oven. Otherwise the plastic and rubber parts will simply melt away.
- The paint is applied to the surface using a special device where an electrostatic charge is applied to the powder, which adheres the paint to the part.
- After the paint has been applied, the detail is placed in the oven and heated for about 20 minutes at 200°C.
- After the part has cooled, the product is ready for use.
What is thermoplastic powder coating?
Plascoat Thermoplastic Powder PPA 571 is specially formulated for the long lasting and durable coating of mild steel, galvanised steel and aluminium exteriors.
Plascoat’s product PPA 571 ES is resistant to cracking under heavy loads, adverse weather conditions, cleaning agents, salt spray and typical airborne contaminants. The coating adheres perfectly to the metal substrate and does not require priming.
Based on its own tests, Plascoat predicts that the PPA 571 coating will provide minimal protection against metal corrosion:
- – 35 years of open skies in northern Europe;
- – 25 years of open skies in southern Europe;
- – 15 years under open skies in tropical regions.
Plascoat thermoplastic powder coating PPA 571 outperforms all traditional coating powders because it:
- protects against corrosion;
- have an aesthetic appearance;
- resists abrasion by salt and sand;
- resists damaging UV rays and fading;
- is impact resistant;
- can withstand graphite;
- maintains its high quality properties in sub-zero temperatures.
